On September 27th, 2022, Tuesday afternoon, Smoky Lake RCMP attended a field fire along Highway 28, near Vilna. During the course of fighting the fire with County Firefighters, a dead moose was discovered on the edge of the field. Fish and Wildlife officers were engaged, and it was determined that the moose was being poached. This incident of poaching and the fire are believed to be connected.

You could be eligible for a report a poacher reward for providing information involving violations against Alberta’s fisheries and wildlife resources.
