At Crime Stoppers, we believe safe communities begin with empowered citizens – and our rural communities are no different. They are known for their resilience, connection, and shared values; but they also face unique challenges. Programs like the Rural Sign Campaign empower residents to take an active role in crime prevention, ensuring that “what they see”, “what they hear” and “what they know” can be shared through anonymous tips.
This information helps our law enforcement partners solve crime, and thus keeps our neighborhoods safe. The signs can be posted on roadways into these communities, alerting criminals that suspicious activity is not tolerated here, and they are not welcome. The signs will also be a reminder to all community members that reporting criminal activity is a way pro-active way to get criminals off the streets, and that it can be done anonymously.
